Saying Goodbye

I don't know about you, but as much as I like change, it can sometimes make me just a little subdued. But, I understand it's importance in our lives. At times we need to lay aside some of things we are doing in order to give greater attention to something else or someone else. As bloggers we have lives and interests outside of the virtual world which demand our love and attention.

I like people. As much as I like my own space and time, I like people. Blogging has allowed me to interact with a variety of persons from all over the world. Some email privately or Tweet, as well. I never fathomed that dimension before I began blogging. The friendship connection.

Now saying that, I often wonder how I'd feel when I no longer see posts or updates from 'so and so'. Will someone come to the blog and post a final farewell so we know? Do you guys understand what I mean? I'd want to say goodbye. If something happens, maybe I will never know.

When I first decided to transition and loc my hair, some blogs and resource sites became a part of my daily reading. Stalking, I heard you say? But it made and still makes me feel like a part of a greater number. A sisterhood, of sorts. A member of the blogosphere. I like to read and learn, always have. And with the added advantages of subscribing to a blog and commenting, it is a win-win situation.

Anyhow, the heart of the matter. Sometime last year, I came across some blogs whose editors had not posted in a while. And, since this year has started, a few others have issued farewells, have not posted in some time due to other factors or have stated their intention to take a break.

As bloggers, do we show we care? Or, is it about simply pushing our brand for the world to see? What about the human aspect? Me being sentimental? Yes. But, I believe I keep it real.

Life is dynamic. And that is one of the beautiful things. Through life's changes, we are blessed with opportunities. How we choose to use them can make a difference. As even from the ordinary we can create something extra-special!

These ladies may never read this post, but still, I wanted to say:

THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TO BE A PART OF YOUR LIVES!!!

  1. I, too, have seen many blogs come and go, many bid their farewells to become attentive to areas of their own lives that matter most. At the end of the day, we are all human beings with lives we live outside of the internet... sometimes, we find ourselves neglecting our real, personal lives for the lives we live online: blogging wee hours of the night, morning, in the very little free time we may have outside of our jobs, school, babies, husbands, etc.

It always saddens me to see another blogger I’ve been stalking (j/k) and have become comfortable with decide to shut it down. I try to always bid these ladies a sincere farewell in their journeys, as these ladies (and gents) have sacrificed their own lives and relationships (in many cases) to cater to those that read the words on our personal pages.

If I haven't said it before, I appreciate ALL bloggers, especially those who blog for free. There is no obligation for any of them, of us to log in everyday. I sincerely appreciate and have the utmost respect for that… blogging is not as easy as it looks.
